Feeling Festive

The festive spirit arrives on site

As we head into the festive season, there’s been plenty happening here at Swallow Tree Gardens — from rediscovered pieces of our history to exciting news for the year ahead, Christmas has officially landed here! Decorations are up, lights are twinkling, and the site has begun to take on that unmistakable cosy winter feel.
Locally, festive events are underway too. The Saundersfoot Harbour Christmas Market has opened for the weekend, filling the decking with crafts, food stalls and plenty of seasonal cheer — although the wind has certainly been giving the stallholders a challenge!
With a few more festive events across Pembrokeshire still to come, the build-up to Christmas is definitely well underway.
A Blast from the Past: Our Old Sign Resurfaces.
This week, a long-forgotten site sign emerged from deep storage, and after a bit of elbow grease it has scrubbed up beautifully. There was some debate amongst the team as to when this sign was used and where it stood on our park. We were able to narrow it down a little but took to our social media family online to piece together a little bit more. Sharing it online sparked a brilliant response from our community. Most visitors placed it in the mid-1990s, after the leisure complex first opened and the lodges arrived on site. Opinions were split on its exact home — some remember it near the main road entrance, others are sure it stood proudly by the pillar entrance.
It’s been wonderful hearing everyone’s memories and piecing together a small part of our site’s story. It really does warm our hearts hearing from our followers of their time spent here over the decades.
Introducing Shearwater
We will be welcoming her onto our letting fleet next season.
The name comes from a story shared by Jim from his days working on the commercial fishing boats.
Out at night, the deck lights would create a pool of brightness on the water around them - revealing the magic of the sea. They'd talk about “the ghosts and the fairies”
The “ghosts” were Manx shearwaters, out of the corner of their eye they'd catch sight of their pale bellies flashing as they glided past. The “fairies” were storm petrels, dancing lightly on the surface as they fed off sea scraps
There’s something quietly humbling about these small seabirds moving with such ease in an environment that feels harsh and unforgiving to humans. Naming the lodge after these transient visitors felt like the perfect fit for a Pembrokeshire lodge by the coast.

With the festive season now in full swing, it's an ideal time to remind visitors that leisure membership vouchers are available from reception. Whether it's a single-month pass for one or a longer, tailored family membership, it's a thoughtful way to gift a little wellbeing - from relaxing swims in our heated indoor pool to unwinding in the sauna and steam room. A simple, meaningful present for anyone who could use a bit of calm after a busy year.
