Get ready for St David’s Day Weekend in Pembrokeshire!

This weekend, the county comes alive with local parades, music, dancing and family‑friendly events to celebrate St David’s Day. Whether you’re planning a day trip or a weekend stay, Pembrokeshire has plenty to enjoy — from cultural highlights and community traditions to coastal fun and hands‑on activities.

A Little History: Who Was St David?
St David — known in Welsh as Dewi Sant — is the patron saint of Wales, believed to have been born in Pembrokeshire around the 6th century. He was a respected Christian teacher and founder of monastic communities, with his most significant foundation at what is now St David's Cathedral in the smallest city in Britain.
Legend says he once made the ground rise beneath him during a sermon so that everyone could see and hear him. Welsh soldiers reportedly wore leeks to identify themselves in battle, and his famous advice to ''do the little things in life with great love'' still inspires today.
1 March — the date of his death in 589 AD — has been celebrated as a feast day and national festival in Wales for centuries. Today, it’s a day for Welsh heritage, culture and community spirit, and the traditions range from wearing daffodils and leeks to parades, concerts, special foods and local gatherings celebrating everything that makes Welsh culture unique
