Nature Is Closer Than You Think
As Wales Nature Week draws to a close, it's left us thinking about this year's theme – 'In Your Neighbourhood'. It's a simple idea, but perhaps an important one.
We often think nature is something we have to travel to find. A National Park. A famous beach. A mountain summit. Somewhere marked on a map. But more often than not, it's already there.
One of the things we love most about life here is that nature isn't something you have to go looking for. It's woven through the mature gardens and woodland that form part of our award-winning holiday park.
It's in the bees gathering pollen from the flowers.
The birds that provide the soundtrack to every morning.
Rabbits appearing from the hedgerows just before dusk.
Fish moving quietly through the shallows at Swallowtree Bay.
The changing seasons, the wildflowers, the butterflies and the little moments that often go unnoticed because we're usually in too much of a hurry.
Of course, you don't need to be staying with us to enjoy any of this.
It might be the birds visiting your own garden.
A walk through your local woodland.
Wildflowers growing along a familiar footpath.
Or simply taking a few extra minutes to notice what's already around you.
Perhaps that's what Wales Nature Week is really about. Not asking us to go further. Just asking us to look a little closer.
